Product Details
Bare copper tape is an integral component of both lightning protection and grounding systems. It is typically installed on the external surface of a structure, such as along the roofline or perimeter, and connected to the down conductor of the lightning protection system. The tape is also commonly used to establish a low-resistance connection between various grounding components, such as ground rods or plates, and the grounding system.
The primary function of bare copper tape in lightning protection and grounding systems is to provide a low-resistance path for electrical current. Copper is an excellent conductor of electricity and offers low electrical resistance. By using bare copper tape, the lightning energy is safely guided along the tape and directed towards the grounding system, which dissipates the energy into the ground. Bare copper tape is specifically chosen for these applications because it is durable, corrosion-resistant, and highly conductive. It is typically available in various widths and thicknesses to accommodate different installation requirements.
