What the thermal welding?

Thermal welding is a molecular-type welding method that utilizes the heat generated by an exothermic reaction of aluminum to melt the metal in a closed, heat-resistant mold. The reaction occurs as follows:

3CuO + 2Al -> 3Cu + Al2O3 + 2537°C

At this temperature, common metals such as iron, copper, aluminum, etc., all melt and blend together into a single mass, which is why it is called molecular welding. This type of welding allows for the joining of different types of metals without the requirement of the same material. Furthermore, due to its molecular nature, these welds have excellent electrical conductivity, making them highly effective for grounding systems.

Advantages:

  • The weld provides good lightning conduction and does not increase resistance over time.
  • The welding powder is highly flammable, allowing for quick and safe usage.
  • The bond is permanent and has no junction points.
  • It can be connected in any configuration (T-shape, U-shape, parallel, etc.).
  • The weld is not susceptible to corrosion, oxidation, and remains aesthetically pleasing and durable.
  • It saves costs for users. The process of thermal welding is simple and convenient. Prior to the construction, only the welding mold and appropriate welding powder for the grounding connections need to be prepared. No complex power source or wiring is required; only a flame is needed to ignite the welding powder, allowing for immediate thermal welding. The technicians performing the welding do not require highly advanced skills; they only need to use standardized and accurate welding equipment and molds to carry out the thermal welding process.
