An octagon box extension, also known as a box extender or a box extension, is a device used to raise the height of an electrical box installed in a wall or ceiling. It is typically made of electro-galvanized steel, hot dip galvanized steel and is designed to fit over the existing box, adding extra depth to accommodate larger devices, wires, or cables. They can also be used when the wall or ceiling material is too thick, such as with concrete or brick walls, and the original box is recessed too far into the wall.
Octagon box extension come in different depths and sizes to match the dimensions of the original box. They are typically secured to the original box with screws or clips and can be painted or covered with wall material to blend in with the surroundings.
